Transportation and Logistics
The inland waterways of the United States include over 25,000 miles (40,000km) of navigable waters connected to Louisiana’s port systems. With easy access to much of the country via our nation’s waterways, Louisiana is home to five of the nation’s 15 largest ports when measured by tonnage.
Louisiana’s logistical advantages are not just limited to the state’s waterways. With direct access to a 133,000 mile rail network, nearly 900 miles of interstates, and seven primary airports, businesses in Louisiana are able to efficiently transport their goods across the world.
