Come On In -- The Water’s Fine!
Have you been thinking about getting involved in the global marketplace
but feel intimidated or have been wondering where and how to start? Do
terms like FOB, CIF, letters of credit, bills of lading, and proforma
invoices confuse you? How will the new Free Trade Agreements with other
countries affect your business? Well, wait no longer -- put your toe in
the water right now and start learning what it takes to export and import.
And remember, you don’t have to be the producer of a product or service
to sell it abroad, or to source goods or services from overseas to market
in this country. Instead, you can be an intermediary, sales
representative, or broker, as many others have successfully done.
The purpose of this introductory workshop is to walk you through the
fundamentals of an international transaction, to give you an overview of
the basic export-import process, and to provide you with the confidence
and comfort level to demonstrate to you that it’s not as daunting as you
may think to succeed in international trade.
What Comes Next?
If you like what you hear at the January 11 luncheon session, then you
can learn more about this exciting -- and very profitable -- process by
taking the next step and signing up for a package of four 4½-hour
afternoon seminars (12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.) to be held on February
16, 21, 23, and 28 at the World Trade Center and conducted by the Louisiana
International Trade Center. In those seminars, you will learn step-by-step
the "how-to" of international market research, preparing
products for export & import, pricing strategies, terms of sale &
quotations, export & import documentation, export shipping &
import entry procedures, trade financing, and -- the bottom line --
methods of payment.
